Shabby Chic Altered Clock

I got this very cute clock from a friend and decided to make it pretty!! The metal of the piece was already black, but I wanted it to have texture, so I used Prima Heavy Black Gesso with a pounce brush to apply (using up and down pounce motions) and heat set it in between coats. Love to do this technique! It takes some time, but well worth the subtle texture!  After that I added all the fun elements (including beautiful product from Reneabouquets!) and the end result was this pretty piece of home décor!  I will have the link to my You Tube video below the pictures that explains this project in its entirety as well as the links to all the wonderful Reneabouquet products that were used! Thanks for stopping by!

Stillness By Renea Harrison

I am a country girl at heart and I love creating pieces that reflect my country chic side. Every since I got the Prima Rose Quartz Papers in my Reneabouquets shops, I have been dying to use them for this style, and I finally got a chance over the Mother's Day weekend for some scrappy time and created this layout.

I started with a base layer of  the Prima Rose Quartz Paper, and then took a second sheet, cut it down, and distressed the edges. I tore another piece of the paper and added it, then created a photo matte from some of the papers, added that and then added the photo.

Next, I did some water distressing and pleated the paper on one side, tucking some Sheer Romance White Lace underneath and then topping it with some Horse Shoe Die Cuts, and
a small rose from the Soft Pink Roses & Leaves Flower Set.

I cut the paper at the bottom of the layout, so that I could do some paper curling to expose the base layer and tucked in more of the Sheer Romance White Lace.

To add in some visual interest and texture, I used a stencil, and Ranger Texture Paste to create a burlap pattern in random places on the layout, spritzed the stenciling with Tim Holtz Brushed Pewter Spray Stain, and then used the heat gun to raise the texture paste and dry in the stain.

I took a piece from the Blue Fern Page Chains Chipboard Set, and inked it with Ranger Big Emboss It Clear Ink , heat embossed it with some powder and then popped some large, flat back pearls on the ends for accent.  I created a flower layer using a Petaloo Burlap Sunflower, various pieces from the Reneabouquets Soft Pink Roses & Leaves Flower Set, and  Ivory Wild Roses & Gardenias Set,

and some paper rolls wrapped with twine that I created from pieces that I saved when I did my paper tearing on the layers.

I created a second flower layer at the top using a Prima Rose Quartz Provenza Flower, another Petaloo Burlap Sunflower, and a piece and some leaves from the Soft Pink Flower Set, and then tucked in a twine bow. I then topped the piece off with some of my handcrafted Frosty Pink Dragonflies for added dimension and texture.

Here is a side shot that gives you a peek at all the dimension that was created with the papers, techniques and RB Products!! I love to create pieces that have elements that "pop" off the page and I choose products for my shops that make getting this look a breeze!!

I hope you have enjoyed your look at my Country Girl heart, and I hope you have a beautiful week that is full of piece and a little "Stillness" of your own!! Hugs ~Renea

Shabby Chic Photo Display

I found this very cute jewelry organizer at a sale, and had intended to use it for that purpose, but one time I walked by it and instantly had an idea! I loved the "frame" that comes up from the "doily" plate at the bottom. It originally had two bars on the center bar (for necklaces, I presume) that I gently pried off. The metal that was left, amazingly, was my photo display! To cover the areas where those pieces had been taken off, I used Prima Heavy Gesso and a sponge pounce brush to add texture to all the metal.   Then I added all my fun pieces (wanting lots of texture with beautiful flowers and butterflies) and the end result was this pretty piece of home décor with a picture of my husband and I! I will have the link to my You Tube video below the pictures that explains this project in its entirety as well as the links to all the wonderful Reneabouquet products that were used! Oh My Goodness have you seen ReneaBouquets new Into the Mystic Butterfly set?  I've added them to my favorites from Renea's!  I am in Love with the colors and details!
For the month of May when you purchase Blue Fern Studios Chesterville Collection you will automatically receive the New Into the Mystic Butterfly set at http://www.reneabouquets.com/ only.
You don't want to miss this paper collection and the butterflies are AMAZING! Another butterfly set added to my Favorites from Reneabouquets!
When ReneaBouquets started carrying Blue Fern Studios Chesterville Collection in her store I knew I had to get my hands on the collection!
Below is my first project using Blue Fern Studios Chesterville collection!  The papers match Into the Mystic Butterfly set perfectly!

This layout is full of texture and color!  I started out with stenciling one from Art Anthology (Chevron Stencil) and the other was Prima.  I used texture paste then sprinkled some embossing powders for added interest and shine.
Then the messy part begins with spraying inks!  I tried to use the colors in the Into the Mystical Butterflies.
I started gathering embellishments from my stash and placing them top to bottom,  still not knowing how it was going to turn out. I laid down ReneaBouquets Doily Lace and loved how it looked.  I grabbed my Blue Fern Studios Laser Cut Chipboard Grid pieces and heat set embossing powder to them.  I also found a Blue Fern Studios Laser Cut Chipboard Roman Clock piece in my stash and heat embossed it with embossing powders.

I added alot of flowers to this layout using colors from the butterflies!
And once everything was in place I glued it down then started adding microbeads,  seedbeads,  art stones,  glitter and other sparkly embellishments.
I hope I've inspired you to create something beautiful today!
Be sure to get your Blue Fern Studios Chesterville collection and you will receive the Gorgeous Into the Mystic Butterfly set!

Cherish Mixed Media Canvas

Today I have a Mixed Media Canvas!  When I first started out with this canvas I wanted to use pastel colors and in my mind I could see splashes of color.  Once I started spraying the inks I didn't like how it was turning out.  I finally quit with the inks and let it dry.  I added some more colors with Inka Gold for some shimmer,  it was looking better.  So I continued with my creating!  Once I added ReneaBouquets Tiny Treasures Sweet as Candy Butterflies I knew it was going to be pretty.

All the added microbeads,  sequins,  art stones,  flatback rhinestones really added to this canvas!

I love to create lots of texture on my projects!

When I create Mixed Media canvases I like to go thru my stash of flowers and other embellishments that aren't my favorites and I try to use them,  they get a coat of Gesso and once you spray them they are renewed with a fresh look!
