Hello, all, Adrienne here with my second guest design this month--a gorgeous bee-themed mixed media canvas project! I’m a huge fan of bees and gardening so anytime I get to incorporate both flowers and bees into a project I am beyond thrilled!
Sunshine yellow, bees, lemons and flowers really evoke feelings of summer for me. I love sipping lemonade on my back patio watching the bees visit my flower gardens during this season. So this project was inspired by all the things that make me think of summer and what better way to represent all those things than with beautiful Reneabouquets products, especially those Lemon Bees!
I started out with an 8” hexagon shaped canvas and added some texture paste through a stencil. I then layered on paints and sprays in a variety of yellow hues to add color to the base. Then I splattered a little gold ink from a re-inker on the project.
Next I began layering on all of my elements, starting with a torn half of a yellow hexagon embossed paper from My Mind’s Eye. It’s a piece that I’ve been saving in my stash for the perfect project, and this is definitely the perfect project! I then added on some of the Reneabouquets Timeless Vintage Ivory Lace because I love little peeks of lace and fabric in my projects.
I cut 2 smaller hexagons from my embossed paper and used foam adhesive and the Honey Wild Roses, Gardenia and Leaves paper flowers and the Honey, Roses and Leaves paper flowers to pop up the larger of the two hexagons from the canvas. This created a base for more flowers, chipboard and of course, the bee!
I added the adorable Sugar Bee Hive Printed Beautiful Board to the bottom right of the popped up hexagon as well as more Honey flowers, tucking in some Drop Leaf Lace. I added bits of Beautiful Board Hexagon Elements Laser Cut Chipboard and a piece of Sugar Bee Accents Laser Cut Chipboard, that I embossed with a yellow glaze.
I then added on the smaller of the two die cut paper hexagons to the upper left of the larger one and added two Tiny Treasures Sweet Pea Soft Yellow Glitter Glass Butterflies and one of the Lemon Blossom Bees.
To finish it all off, I tucked in some of the Printed Beautiful Board Tuck It In Lemon Blossoms and Lemon Blossom Branches, two small resin pieces and Beautiful Beads Glass Hearts. To add just an extra bit of sparkle (because I am a firm believer that you can never have too much), I added a little Gawdie Girl Hand Tinted Chunky Glitter Glass in Buttercream to the yellow flowers.
I hope that you enjoyed seeing all the little yummy details of this canvas! I had so much fun creating this little layered mixed media beauty. Here’s a list of all the RB products used in this project:
