Reneabouquets: Purple Dream Mixed Media Canvas by Adrienne Boese

Hello, Adrienne here, and I’m so excited to be sharing my first of two guest designs this month! Today I have a dreamy purple and mint mixed media canvas for you.

I began by adding texture paste to my 12x12 inch canvas through a stencil. Once that was dry, I used two colors of purple impasto paint to add color to the canvas. I spritzed the paint with water to make it a bit more fluid then painted it on using my fingers randomly, creating a bit of a watercolor look. (I have to admit, I really enjoyed the finger painting!) Once the paint was dry, I added on some decor wax to highlight the stenciled areas.

To create a focal point to add all of the Reneabouquets goodies around, I stretched some of the White Wide Floral Embroidered Lace in an 8 inch embroidery hoop then backed the hoop with some floral printed paper from Prima. I added touches of crackle paste around the embroidery hoop and once dry, glued it down to the center of my canvas.

I then cut some of the Beautiful Board Marquise Elements Laser Cut Chipboard into smaller pieces and added a minty colored embossing glaze to some of the bits. I glued these down onto the canvas and embroidery hoop.

Next I added plum colored Reneabouquets flowers to my project, tucking some of the Drop Leaf Lace under some to make a wall of vines like effect. It reminds me of something you might see in the Secret Garden. I tucked a few more pieces of chipboard pieces under the flowers, this time leaving them plain for a bit of contrast.

I then added a Printed Beautiful Board Hummingbird to one side of the embroidery hoop. I also added two Glass Wing Double Butterflies as well as a Tiny Treasures dragonfly to my project.
