Ladies Stacked Letters With Drawer
This stack of letters and a drawer is meant to look like some love letters a lady might have on her desk. They sit on top of a drawer for trinkets. The inspiration for this project came from a video I saw on YouTube by Robyn Pitts for a Stacked Letters with Drawer tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83pJ39LVpUA). I made that project but it was HUGE! So I reduced the size of the drawer and the size of the envelopes and didn’t add the chunky envelopes between the stack of letters to keep it more manageable. My drawer is 5-1/2”x5-1/2” and 2” tall and my envelope size is 5”x5”. When I added knobs for the feet and five stacked letters my project stands about 5-1//2” tall instead of 12”!
The paper set used for this project was Mintay’s Lavender Farms. I love the purples and greens.
The first thing I did was to make the drawer base. I followed the above tutorial for the construction of the drawer and the cabinet it sits in but reduced the dimensions. I used chipboard for the construction. After it was constructed it was covered with patterned paper including the inside of the drawer.
It was then time to cut some envelopes. I used my Stampin‘ Up envelope punch board to make the five envelopes from five different patterns from the paper set. After I assembled the envelopes I put a bit of chipboard in them before I sealed them up to give them a bit of height and also added some dimensional foam tape on the back of them for even more height. Don’t add the tape on the envelope that will be your bottom envelope though! I took the first envelope with folded side face up and added some Garden Bouquet Lace to the bottom of the envelope with a hot glue gun. For my next envelope I added some Reneabouquets Trim-Tattered Purple Pleated Tulle to the sides of the envelope and some Reneabouquets Trim-Petite Flower Lace to the bottom. For the next envelope I added some Reneabouquets Trim-Delicate Beauty Guipere Lace to the bottom of the envelope. I also tucked in a little more of the tulle to the sides. For the fourth envelope it was more of the Garden Bouquet Lace at the bottom. The top envelope had some Reneabouquets Trim-Petite Pearl Lace at the bottom.
Once the envelopes were all decorated with the laces it was time to stack them together. I placed the envelope I wanted on the bottom in front of me. Took the next envelope and removed the backing from the foam tape, added a bit of hot glue, and glued it onto the top of the bottom envelope at a slight angle. This continued with the rest of the envelopes until you were left with a stack of staggered envelopes.
I then decorated the stack by inserting some cut outs from the paper collection coming out the sides of the envelopes and one image off the top. Two Beautiful Board Victorian Scroll Pattern flourishes were also added at the top of the envelope. For the top envelope I bent the paper to give it a bit of a curve and then put some magnets at the “V” of the envelope to open and close it. I decorated the flap of the envelope with some ruffled lace trim, string of pearls, and a White Pearl And Rhinestone Button for the closure. On the flap I added some die cut leaves, stick pin, feather, Mini Mint Green Mulberry Paper Roses, Lavender And White Roses, and some lavender roses from my stash. On the bottom of one side a Tiny Treasures Sweetheart Lavender Glitter Glass Premium Paper Butterfly rests on the stack of letters, and on the other side you will find Beautiful Board Fairy Bell Itty Bitty Chipboard and the words “You Are Amazing”.
Before I attached the letters to the drawer I glued a strip of lace ribbon to the top of the drawer so that it could wrap around the letters and be tied into a nice bow. Then I attached the letters with hot glue. I finished off the drawer by adding some painted Beautiful Board Small Butterfly Flourish Laser Cut Chipboard to the front of the drawer and some painted Victorian Scroll Pattern flourishes to the sides. The flourishes were decorated with Reneabouquets Candy pearls in lavender. I then added a crystal drawer pull and feet to the drawer.
