Thankful Altered Paint Brush

This was my first attempt at an altered paint brush and I really enjoyed making this for the October Reneabouquets Fall-O-Ween Swap for my partner Elizabeth.

The first thing I did was gesso the metal piece and handle of my brush. After it dried I mixed some texture paste into my paint to give it a rough feel. Once that was dry I added Reneabouquets timeless Vintage Ivory Lace all around the fat part of the brush. I cut about nine strands of pearls and glued them at the top part of the lace and then topped that with some Ivory Pleated Tulle and a row of pearls. I really like the pearls dangling down over the lace.

The next piece I worked with was the Beautiful Board Small Autumn Beauty Pumpkins Laser Cut Chipboard. I adhered this piece with 3D dots to make it stand out from the brush and moved it to the right side so that I could put a spray of flowers on the left side. I also used 3D dots on Beautiful Board Fairy Bell Itty Bitty Chipboard when I adhered her onto the flowers on the pumpkin. The word “Thankful” was added to the bottom of the pumpkin.

On the left side of the brush I used a number of flowers from Reneabouquets for a floral spray. I tucked in some leaves, rosebuds, and snips of lace for texture. All the flowers were covered with Hand Tinted Buttercream Gawdie Girl Chunky Glitter Glass to make the flowers sparkle. I mounted a Tiny Treasures Champagne Dreams Premium Paper Butterly on some wire and glued him into the spray of flowers.

For the handle of the brush I cut a section of lace to cover the handle and added some half pearls to the lace. Two rosebuds, a bow and a White and Rhinestone Button finished off the project.
