Carousel Horse Explosion Box
I have a friend who is from a large ranching family and they have lots of horses so I really wanted to make this Explosion Box for her with the carousel horse. She displays some old family heirlooms and my handmade cards on her buffet at Christmas so I decided to go with a Christmas theme.
The base of the project is Reneabouquets Carousel Horse Explosion Box. The paper set I used is Ciao Bella’s “Frozen Roses” collection. I just loved the reds, greens, and icy look of this paper.
The first thing I did was paint my horse and the parts of the box that would be showing with white acrylic paint. I covered the inside of the box with the patterned paper and then added a bit of lace at the top and some Reneabouquets White Candy pearls to the lace. I assembled the horse on it’s stand and gave him a holly wreath. He is surrounded by Reneabouquets Mini Roses in red, green and white that match the papers. Some Gawdie Girl Diamond Shard Glitter Glass was applied to the roses to give them an icy feel.
On the outside of the box I covered three sides with more patterned paper, added lace around the top, outlined each section in pearls, and each section also got a Beautiful Board Beautiful Bits First Snow Snowflake that I also painted white. On the front of the box I added in a few more roses and a Printed Beautiful Board Itty Bitty Christmas Carol.
On the roof of the box I covered part of the roof with patterned paper but left it as is where there was cut out patterns. I added more of the same roses covered with German Shard Glitter Glass. I wired the two roof pieces together and added a bit of lace. The final touch was Santa and his reindeer making an appearance on the roof!

“Just Believe In Your Dreams” Explosion Box
For this Explosion Box project I used the Beautiful Board Carousel Horse Explosion Ornament Box, Gift Holder but made a modification to it. I did not use the carousel that came with the box but instead used a chipboard piece that was mounted on some foam to make her stand up. The goal was to create a winter scene with the castle in the background and the princess in front of the castle. I added some buffalo snow to the bottom of the box to give it a snowy feel and added a few poinsettias. I covered all three sides of the inside of the box. The papers used for this project were the “Winter Tales” collection from Stamperia.
On the front of the box I added in a reindeer from the collection and the words “Just Believe In Your Dreams”. A Beautiful Board Blue Jay Itty Bitty Chipboard piece fit in perfectly with the papers. Rhinestones decorated the front of the box. The top of the box was decorated with a White Mulberry Poinsettia, a rhinestone center, and sprinkled with some Reneabouquets Gawdie Girl Diamond Shard German Glitter Glass to give the look of fresh fallen snow.
The sides of the box were all decorated with a chipboard poinsettia from the collection and some rhinestones.
The back top of the box featured another White Mulberry Poinsettia with the same rhinestone center and Gawdie Girl Diamond Shard German Glitter Glass. A Tiny Treasures Silver Fairy Dust Butterfly was added and a white lace bow to close the box finished off the project.
