Wedding Card And Box
For this card I combined two different card designs that I wanted to try. By the time it was finished it was quite thick and wouldn’t fit well in an envelope so I decided to decorate a wooden box to hold the card. Found a box the perfect size so this made a nice wedding gift for my daughter’s friend.
The card measures 5-1/2” x 5-1/2” and has about a 1/2” spine. The front has a folded back type pocket that holds tags. The paper collection I used was from Stamperia and was called “You & Me” and all the tags were from this collection. I added ribbon and some bling charms to the tags in the front pocket, some lace and pearls around the fold back piece, and a floral spray and butterfly. The flowers used were Mini Whisper Pink Mulberry Paper Roses and Leaves Set and Mini White Mulberry Paper Roses and Leaves Set. A beautiful Tiny Treasures Snow White Premium Paper Glitter Glass Butterfly finishes the front of the card. The back of the card has one of the cut apart pieces that fit perfectly and a chipboard piece reading “Just Married”.
The inside of the card has two pockets that each contain two tags from the set and two chipboard pieces of the front of the pockets. An accordion section was added at the bottom of the card to hold more chipboard pieces from the collection. Tags and pockets were trimmed with lace, ribbon, and pearls. One of the tags contains a Printed Beautiful Board Small White Dove with the bird cage and a few Beautiful Beads Flatback Pearls were added so some of the chipboard embellishments. Some lace ties keep the book shut.
The box was painted on the areas that would not be covered with patterned paper. The top of the box was decorated with one of the cut apart pieces that I mounted on chipboard for more dimension and ran a layer of lace around the back side before it was glued down. There was a cut out bouquet that was the same size as the one printed on the cut apart so I added chipboard to the back of that also and mounted it with 3D dots, added a pearl button, and covered the bouquet with Gawdie Girl Diamond Chunky German Glitter Glass for added sparkle. The circle design around the flowers was a perfect fit for the Beautiful Board Small Twisted Chain which I painted to match the papers and topped with some of the Beautiful Beads Flatback Pearls. A chipboard tag was cut to extend on the top and the bottom of the cut apart and finished off with a bit of ribbon and a pearl brad. Next to the bouquet I added a Printed Beautiful Board Small Vintage Cherub. The roses on the Cherub were a bit too bright for the papers so I covered them with some small roses I had in my stash. I added two floral sprays using Mini White Mulberry Paper Roses and Leaves Set, Mini Whisper Pink Mulberry Paper Roses and Leaves Set, and a few gray roses from my stash. A small key was tucked into one of the sprays and a Tiny Treasures Sweet As Candy Premium Paper Glitter Glass Butterfly was added to the bottom of the front. To finish off the corners on the top of the box some Beautiful Board Small Butterfly Flourishes were added and topped with some Flatback Pearls.
The sides of the box were covered with patterned paper, two rows of lace, and more of the Flatback Pearls. The front and sides also had painted Beautiful Board Small Butterfly Flourishes. The bottom was covered in patterned paper and wooden feet that were painted to match the papers added a bit of height to the box. The inside of the box was then decorated with more of the patterned paper and some of the cut aparts and was now ready for the card.
