Bridal Exploding Box

As wedding season approaches, I decided to craft a truly special token of remembrance for my niece’s wedding in May, and what better way to do so than by creating a one-of-a-kind gift box that she can cherish forever.

The foundation is a white exploding box base from Mintay. For the paper, I chose the Romantic Garden collection from Scrapboys, a gorgeous selection of papers that felt like the perfect match for a wedding keepsake. On the outside of the box, I applied a single layer of beautifully patterned papers and adorned the top of the box with several gorgeous products from Reneabouquets!

The magic happens once you open the box. Each flap of the box features multiple layers of paper, each one more stunning than the last. I carefully fussy cut several elements from the papers, such as delicate florals, wedding-related motifs, and sweet accents, which I then arranged to create an artful scene on each flap. These were further adorned with Reneabouquets printed chipboard pieces, tiny roses, and fluttering butterflies, which added dimension and movement to the design.

The centerpiece of the box is truly the heart of the creation. For the base, I embossed a Paris Doily in rich gold, giving it an antique and regal feel. On top of the doily, I layered a variety of flowers in soft yellow and white, including roses that add a touch of romance and elegance. Nestled between the blooms, I placed an embossed "US" heart from the Beautiful Bees Chipboard, symbolizing the union of the couple. Atop all of this, I set a delicate Old Tinsel Butterfly, adding a touch of whimsical beauty that ties the composition together.

The inside of the lid also features multiple layers of paper, carefully arranged to create a sense of depth and texture. I fussy cut more elements from the wedding-themed papers, then added another embossed doily, lace trim, fussy cut images and a butterfly. The design makes the inside of the lid just as enchanting as the rest of the box.

But perhaps the most striking feature of the box is the top. For the handle, I cut the hearts from the Beautiful Board Sweetheart Key and embossed them in crisp white. The hearts serve not only as a functional way to open the box but also as a stunning focal point. Around the hearts, I arranged more flowers, printed chipboard, the other half of the embossed key and some lovely lace giving the top a gorgeous finish.

This exploding box isn’t just a gift; it’s a labor of love, a work of art that will hold special memories for my niece. It’s a perfect representation of the love and beauty that surrounds her wedding day, and I can’t wait for her to experience the magic of opening it and discovering all the hidden details within.
