Baby Shower Crate

When I saw one of these baby shower crates on Pinterest I fell in love with the design and knew I needed to make one. The only problem was I didn't know anyone expecting a baby! Well, fortunately a friend recently announced the upcoming arrival of her second grandson and our small group decided to throw a Grandma Shower for her. I found the crate at Walmart and painted it a cream color. The dowels in the back came from Home Depot. After hot gluing them to the back of the crate I added the dowel across the top so that I could hang clothes, greenery, and a swing. A little fox enjoys the swing made from a small tray from Dollar Tree with a grandma bib on it and a fawn sits on the side of the crate. Many more items were added to the crate at the shower and the grandma loved it!

On the top of the crate I ran a row of ivory beaded lace over some ivory pleated tulle and along the sides and bottom of the crate I added pearls. On the front of the crate I used Reneabouquets Printed Beautiful Board Large Baby Blocks Build Your Own Name/Word Set to spell out the name of the new baby. Two sprays of mulberry flowers with some Beautiful Board Small Quilling Flourishes were added on each side of the name and the bottom corners were decorated with Beautiful Board Medium April in Paris Adornment Pattern pieces that were topped with half pearls. Blue, brown and yellow butterflies finished off the front.

Both sides of the crate were decorated the same way with the focal point being Shabby Chic Teddy Bear Premium Paper Tags that were framed with Beautiful Board Small Victorian Scroll Fames topped with Beautiful Board Beautiful Bits - Shabby Hearts - and some Beautiful Board Beautiful Bits - Diaper Pin Laser Cut Chipboard pieces were added to the bottom of the frame with a bow and flowers. More flowers, quilling pieces and adornment pieces were added along with more butterflies.

To finish off the crate I added some garland on the top of the dowel and down the sides, and a bow and swing on the left side leaving room on the right to hang clothes.
