Out of Limitations Comes Creativity

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a design team page for Reneabouquets! I've used a google free photo by A.M. Lorek.
It's always a pleasure to use such high quality, beautiful products from Reneabouquets

To make this page I applied clear gesso to Lavender Frost paper. I applied texture paste with a stencil, then put the layers under the photo together. I took corrugated cardboard, ripped off some of the surface paper off, and painted it with gesso. On top of the cardboard I added watercolor paper, foam core board, and a layer of cardstock directly attached to it with double sided tape. I find this helps with warping, I get a lot of glare from the shiny photo paper that makes it hard to take photos, The flatter the photo lies, the less glare there is.

I picked out Beautiful Board (B Board),prepped with gesso, painted with Shimmerz Paints, and topped it with Clear Rock Candy Crackle.

To add visual interest I added microbeads, glass glitter, mica flakes, seed beads, pearls, rhinestones, shells, pressed flowers and leaves, lichen, Prima flowers, metal from Reneabouquets, Tim Holtz, chain, tulle, and tiny pieces of lace. Most of the paint is Shimmerz, but I also used Finnabair Sparks,Waxes, and Tattered Angels. I dabbed on gold and purple mica powder on a lot of raised areas, for highlights. I wanted to show the dimension with the above photo. There's a total of 5 layers of foam core board.

I pretty much coated the background paper with gesso, because things just got too busy.

A lot of the raised areas of the chipboard and cardboard have gesso on them. I kept adding and changing colors to get something I wanted.I added a little Prima stamping at the end,and also rubbed on some Green Brocade Prima wax in a few areas.

There's a lot of texture with all the micro beads and glitter.

To help tie things together, I brush a little gesso on almost everything, then add more paint, or mica powder.

I tucked in some pale aqua tulle at the sides and top of the layers. I glued a Butterfly Kiss on the left there. The key has gesso, paint, and mica powders on it. I glued rhinestones in the indentations at the top of the key itself, and tied on some white silk ribbon. Right by the key is a Tim Holtz charm with Art Alchemy Paper, topped with Dimensional Magic.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

ReneaBouquets Holiday Decor Piece with DT Brandy

Hi There! Brandy here to share a cute piece of Christmas decor I created.

Knowing I wanted to make a piece to hang, I chose to use the adorable little hangers that Renea carries from Tim Holtz. They are toooo cute! I used a piece of canvas banner that I picked up from a chain store to build on.

I am in love with the Printed Beautiful Board Wreaths... they are so colorful and so perfectly already cut out for quick and easy use!
I paired it with the sweet Christmas Joy Printed Beautiful Board gal and added a few flowers!

Since it would be complete without a Tiny Treasure Butterfly, I went with the SweetPea Green Glitter Glass ones. :)

I made a small tutorial on SnapGuide! Come take a peek at how easy you can make your own!

Live By Your Own Rules

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a design team post for Reneabouquets! I have used a Google free photo by A.M. Lorek. I was pretty happy that almost all of my supplies from Reneabouquets were just what I needed. I sponged some gesso on Prima's Lavender Frost, then applied texture paste with a stencil and a credit card. I prepped the Beautiful Board(B Board)with gesso, then painted it with Shimmerz. I applied a thick coat of Ranger Clear Rock Candy Crackle. I mounted the photo with some layers: using double sided tape I put cardstock behind the photo. I find that this helps the photo lie flat. When I get the images from CVS, they are curled. Even lying in tons of books, I couldn't flatten them.  I put a single layer of foam core board on, then watercolor paper, 2 layers of foam, then corrugated cardboard I'd ripped some of the surface off of. There's one more layer of foam between it and the background paper.

I started applying all the embellishments. To add visual interest I added:microbeads, glass glitter, metal glitter, distress glitter, seed beads, pearls, crystals, rhinestones, pressed flowers, dried moss, pieces from floral picks, a Prima flower, shells, metal from Reneabouquets, Tim Holtz, and Vintaj. You can also see tulle, cheesecloth, sequins, chain, and a little stamping too.

As I added items, I whited areas out with gesso to keep things balanced. I added more color to the B Board with Prima Finnabair Art Alchemy paints, alcohol inks, and rubbed on mica powder all over the page.

I did a lot of dry brushing, where you put a small amount of paint on the brush, and apply it gently over the surface.

I used a lot of diamond chunky glitter glass, I sprinkled it on any of the pale pink Shimmerz Paint when it was wet.

I drew out the beads from the woman's headdress with seed beads. I think copper and purple look great together.

I painted some of the flower with gesso, and sprinkled microbeads, seed beads, and glitter on.

I love the brass key from Reneabouquets, I've used them in a number of pages. There are little holes on it that you can put pearls or rhinestones on.

I like to use metal, it gives a page depth and strength.

I guess you can tell I love adding detail!
Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

What a Wonderful World

Hi everyone! Here's a design team page for Reneabouquets!I've used a photo from the recent wedding of my son and his wife. I was inspired by the happiness of the occasion.

To make this page I mounted the photo on layers of watercolor paper and foam core board. I took Beautiful Board April In Paris Floral Medallion Set Laser Cut Chipboard (BB),and used the largest one. I cut it in half and used half at each end. I painted it and the watercolor paper with Art Alchemy Steampunk Copper Acrylic Paint by Prima. I poured on a thick layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint on the BB.Using Blue Fern paper, I applied texture paste with a stencil and a credit card, and painted the paste with the copper paint.

I put the BB on with double sided foam tape, and painted underneath it with black gesso. I poured diamond chunky glitter glass on the gesso.I outlined the BB with a Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencil, in Bark.

I painted in between the raised areas of texture paste with Shimmerz Inkling in Penny 4 Your Thoughts, and Greener Pastures. I painted the raised areas in some cases with Sparks Art Alchemy paint in Unicorn Hair.

To add visual interest I added microbeads, glass beads, pearls, glass glitter, diamond shard glitter glass, gold mica flakes, birch bark, lichen, pressed flowers, tulle, metal pieces, rhinestones, Swarovski crystals, and a glass vial. The burgundy ribbon is from one of the boutonnieres the groomsmen wore. You can see some strands of cheesecloth on the page, I dyed some green with Distress Ink and Shimmerz Paint.
